Why Can’t Trump Build Anything?
Infrastructure won’t happen until the Democrats regain control.

(Fri, 15 Feb 2019) Working gas stocks totaled 1,882 billion cubic feet (Bcf) as of February 8, 2019, marking the fifth week in a row that working gas stocks are within the five-year (2014â18) range, after entering the 2018â19 heating season (October 31âMarch 31) at the lowest level since 2002.
(Fri, 15 Feb 2019) In December 2018, U.S. shale and tight plays produced about 65 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) of natural gas (70% of total U.S. dry gas production) and about 7 million barrels per day (b/d) of crude oil (60% of total U.S. oil production). A decade ago, in December 2008, shale gas and tight oil made up 16% of total U.S. gas production and about 12% of U.S. total crude oil production.
(Thu, 14 Feb 2019) State-level estimates of natural gas processing plant capacity, throughput, utilization, and heat content are now available for 2017. Estimates show processing plant capacity and throughput each increasing by about 5% on a net basis for the Lower 48 states between 2014 and 2017.
(Thu, 14 Feb 2019) Azerbaijan is an important supplier of crude oil and natural gas in the Caspian Sea region, particularly to European markets. Azerbaijanâs exports of natural gas are poised to become a more significant part of the countryâs economy. Azerbaijan produced about 600 billion cubic feet (Bcf) of dry natural gas in 2017 and exported about 210 Bcf, according to EIAâs International Energy Statistics.
(Wed, 13 Feb 2019) Natural gas storage operators reported their largest withdrawals of the 2018â19 heating season, totaling 237 billion cubic feet (Bcf) for the week ending February 1, 2019. This level was the 12th-largest total net withdrawal of working natural gas in the Lower 48 states reported by EIA since 2010.
(Tue, 12 Feb 2019) Combined-cycle electric generating systems are combustion and steam turbines that operate in groups commonly referred to as power blocks. Since 2014, the average size of a natural gas-fired combined-cycle power block has increased significantly. The average combined-cycle power block installed between 2002 and 2014 was about 500 megawatts (MW). After 2014, power block capacity increased, reaching an average of 820 MW in 2017.
(Thu, 07 Feb 2019) The United States has more than 2,500 utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) electricity generating facilities. Most of these power plants are relatively small and collectively account for 2.5% of utility-scale electric generating capacity and 1.7% of annual electricity generation, based on data through November 2018.
(Thu, 07 Feb 2019) Energy efficiency (EE) incentives offered by electric and natural gas utilities and state EE organizations are an important component of evolving state and local EE policies. To inform EIAâs assumptions for its Annual Energy Outlook, EIA contracted with the Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships (NEEP) to update its Regional Energy Efficiency Database (REED) and to collect detailed measure-level information on EE program incentives from selected utilities.
A new five-year policy offers $100 billion for infrastructure to stimulate growth — a shift from a focus on consumer spending.
